Measurement and Verification

The Measurement and Verification (M&V) provides a systematic procedure for determining the functional performance and building energy consumption. M&V is analogous to building commissioning and is intended to help preserve energy efficiency and water usage gains over the long term.

Collecting and analyzing energy data is fundamental to any task of determining energy performance. The energy savings is demonstrated and validated through standard measurement and verification (M&V) protocols.

The primary motivations of M&V are:

  1. Provide means to measure and verify ongoing energy savings and performance.
  2. Post construction and continuous commissioning by identifying operational problems that may go unnoticed otherwise.
  3. To document the effectiveness of the green building strategies employed.
  4. To obtain credit for LEED EA Credit 5.

For projects seeking LEED certification, Zodiac provides LEED Commissioning and LEED Measurement and Verification services to assist in achieving the full potential of a LEED certified building.
